Designing a Sky-High Living Experience

Space Edge is a project that combines modernity and futurism to create a one-of-a-kind penthouse interior. The design team, led by Sanjay Newaskar, aimed to make the client feel like they were living in the sky. To achieve this, they incorporated flowing and angular forms throughout the space, from the floor to the walls and ceilings. Painted panels inspired by aerospace technology were used in the bathrooms and sliding windows, replacing traditional curtains and blinds.

What sets Space Edge apart is its attention to detail and unique features. The project went through several stages, from discussing the design brief with the client to concept development, technical drawings, and site visits. The team explored all possibilities from the start, ensuring a comprehensive and innovative design.

The penthouse offers breathtaking views from its terraces on the 14th and 15th floors. The design takes full advantage of these views, incorporating the aerodynamic concept to create a sense of lightness and spaciousness. Aluminium battens accentuate the entrance lobby, while full-height glass in the staircase area enhances brightness.

The color palette of Space Edge is a combination of natural woods, whites, and greys, with accents of red, blue, and green in the bedrooms. Italian Botticino Marble is used for flooring and cladding, while sleek leather furnishings and tipwood headboards add a touch of luxury. The false ceiling lighting features slim cove cuts with LED strips, creating a modern and elegant ambiance. Paint lamination and American Walnut veneer are used for furniture finishes, adding to the overall sophistication of the design.

Space Edge is not just a visually stunning design; it also offers functional and practical living spaces. The first floor houses the formal living and dining areas, an informal living space, a kitchen, a guest room, a servant room, and an open terrace. The second floor is dedicated to more private spaces, including a mandir, bedrooms for the daughter, master, and son, and an informal television room.

The project, which started in February 2015 and finished in August 2016, is located in Pune, Maharashtra, India. Throughout the design process, the team faced the challenge of creating a residence that would provide a refreshing and rejuvenating environment for the client, who are doctors by profession. The futuristic and aerodynamic concept of Space Edge successfully met this challenge, offering a unique living experience.

Space Edge has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This award is given to designs that demonstrate innovation, practicality, and professional excellence, contributing to a better world.
